ART TREK 2025

A Bridge between Europe and the Philippines

Atelier Montez is honored to accept the invitation of the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Rome to participate in the cultural diplomacy program Art Trek, inaugurating the exhibition Memorabilis: Interwoven Memories of Tomorrow between the Philippines and Italy on November 7, 2025.

The exhibition aims to give international visibility to young emerging Filipino artists while creating a new space for exchange with the European public.

Testimonial: Paul Alex M. Samaniego

The exhibition will feature as its testimonial the versatile Filipino artist Paul Alex M. Samaniego, who has been collaborating with Atelier Montez for over a decade. With the Memorabilis series – 30 artworks created specifically for this occasion – Samaniego explores memory, body, and perception by intertwining painting, organic materials, immersive installations, augmented reality, and virtual reality. Winner of the Lorenzo il Magnifico Award at the Florence Biennale, he has exhibited internationally and collaborated with institutions such as FAO, the Italian Ministry of Culture, and the Museum of Civilizations.

Innovation and New Technologies

In line with his experimental and interdisciplinary approach, Samaniego will employ the patented “System for Physical and Digital Art and Method of Evaluation and Authentication of a Work of Art” developed by ARTup—the innovative start-up and spin-off of Atelier Montez—to digitally certify all 30 artworks. The exhibition will go beyond traditional contemplation, offering visitors an immersive experience that blends augmented and virtual reality. Using a digital headset, audiences will be able to “enter” the artworks, explore them in depth, and discover details otherwise invisible to the naked eye.

Goals

Through this initiative, Atelier Montez seeks to strengthen cultural bonds between Europe and the Philippines, offering a global stage to emerging Filipino artists while fostering long-term exchanges among students, academies, and institutions. At the same time, the project invites the Roman public to experience art in innovative and immersive ways—transforming culture into both a dialogue and a shared journey of discovery and connection.

With Memorabilis, the Embassy of the Philippines and Atelier Montez inaugurate a new chapter of international cooperation, grounded in emerging talent, technological innovation, and cultural exchange.
