More than a catalogue, Relazioni Montez is a living archive documenting the history of the Montez Group in Europe from 1998 to 2026. From Kunstverein Familie Montez in Frankfurt to the establishment of Atelier Montez in Rome, the publication traces the development of a transnational and intergenerational artistic community into a wider cultural infrastructure.

WHAT THIS PUBLICATION IS

Relazioni Montez brings together almost three decades of artistic practice, exhibitions, performances, independent cultural spaces, urban regeneration, research and international collaboration.

Its archive includes newspaper articles, magazine reviews, television reports, academic papers, exhibition catalogues, museum publications, photographs, interviews, audiovisual documentation and public records. These materials are being digitised, classified, referenced and connected to preserve their original context and make the history of the Montez Group accessible through a structured documentary archive.

A NETWORKED ARCHIVE

The publication is conceived as a networked archive in which the printed book and its digital infrastructure form a single documentary system.

Texts, photographs, press materials and archival documents are connected through QR codes to corresponding digital records within ARTup. Readers can access original scans, searchable texts, videos, interviews, artworks, metadata and references to related artists, events, people and places.

The printed volume therefore functions as a physical interface to a living digital archive that can continue to grow beyond its pages. Relazioni Montez is conceived as the first publication developed natively within the ARTup infrastructure and as a working model for Montez Research.
