The “Sinestetica” series continues with a new chapter by artists Enza Messini and Daniele Tenca, presenting the exhibition Antico Fiume. Immerge yourself in a multisensory journey along the Aniene River, blending art and reflection to highlight the beauty and fragility of nature while urging environmental stewardship.

The concept

The central goal of Antico Fiume is to foster a deep emotional connection with nature, emphasizing both the beauty and fragility of the environment. To achieve this, the installation engages visitors on multiple sensory levels, ensuring that the experience leaves a lasting impression beyond the gallery walls. Furthermore, it encourages participants to reflect on their daily actions and consider their broader responsibility to protect rivers and the environment. Ultimately, this blend of aesthetic beauty and thought-provoking commentary transforms the artwork into a compelling call to action.

The INstallation

At the heart of the exhibition is a suspended cloth that represents the Aniene River. It begins as a dark, elevated form, symbolizing the mysterious depth of its source. Gradually, the cloth descends and unfurls like a tablecloth. At the source, a painted red heart pulses, embodying the river’s life force. This detail suggests the primordial connection between water and humanity.

As the cloth metaphorically flows downstream, it transitions from purity to pollution. This shift mirrors the river’s journey. Surrounding the central installation are suspended, oscillating artworks. These serve as visual guides, enhancing the multisensory experience with contrasting colors and organic geometries. Together, the elements create a powerful metaphor. The river reflects life’s journey—from innocence to complexity—highlighting the critical need for balance and preservation.
