The title *”I Copy, Therefore I Am”* takes up the idea that copying and imitation are at the basis of both the human and machine creative process. Like children’s copy-learning, A.I. evolves by imitating and perfecting what it learns. Grillo explores how, through reproduction, art and technology intersect to create new forms of identity.

is a conceptual project which analyses the theme of copy and representation in the digital age, investigating how artificial intelligence and art compare on the notion of imitation and authenticity.

Ritratti Genetici

Generation frames that a genetic algorithm processes in order to reproduce the artist’s photographic self-portrait. This work explores the creation of identity through digital reproduction, questioning the concept of individuality and representation.

Sasso d’Artista

A real stone is displayed next to its exact copy, created using scanning and 3D printing techniques. This installation reflects on reproducibility and authenticity, highlighting the relationship between original and duplicate in contemporary art.

The work N.F.T. “Dancer with Cymbals in Red” signed by Gio Montez and Manuel Grillo is a digital derivation of the original sculpture “Dancer with Cymbals” by master Antonio Canova (1811) which explores the transition from classical art into the digital era.
