Art review: Sinestetica Montez 2024
Atelier Montez organises a contemporary art review scheduling meetings every two weeks throughout the year 2024.
These happenings are collective experiments in relational aesthetics entirely designed by the artists to penetrate more deeply into the understanding of aesthetics and contemporary art, in order to generate a stronger and more complex visual experience, so to speak an “augmented experience”. The main artistic objective of the exhibition is to increase engagement and the sense of belonging to the art community, stimulating proactive and cognitive-morphological critical reflection in the user through simultaneous mediated and immediate participation in the artistic phenomenon.

Exhibition’s view “traccia della memoria”
“The fulcrum of the work is the large white sheet made up of remnants of used sheets dating back to an era in which the custom of the “marriage trousseau” was common (…). The choice to use recycled materials for installations that tell stories of life recalls the work of British artist Tracey Emin, who typically works between memories and dreams and tries to capture the emotional essence of her experiences. Like Emin, Maren Marie Mathiesen is also able to elevate personal experiences into archetypes and transform her works manifestation of an existentialism that is both personal and universal.” (Marcella Magaletti)
The scent of the environment is also inspired by the story of Elverhøj by Niels W. Gade, where the fog envelops the Elverhøj and makes the scents of the forest appear more clearly. There are notes of forest, earth, lily of the valley and honeysuckle.

“I think that life happens in the spaces between humans and our interactions with the outside, and I assume that the evolution of the intellect begins in this invisible and immense area of thought. I try to express these two types of invisible spaces in my works with a distance between the signs, while their crossing points are the symbol of our meetings and our positions in the world. Sometimes this content manifests itself in the form of fragments of words or text half-hidden in the paintings; other times, as in works of paper or fabric, it exists in the material itself.”
